History

Not often does a professional touring ballet company perform in communities like Petrolia, Ontario; Rouyn Noranda, Quebec; and St. Bonaventure, New York. However one of the primary objectives of the Ontario Ballet Theatre is to take ballet to people everywhere – to attract, introduce and educate audiences.

Beginning in 1980, the Ontario Ballet Theatre pioneered taking ballet to the people – an exciting new aspect of dance in Canada. Founded by Artistic Director, Sarah Lockett, this unique dance company has achieved tremendous audience support.

Across Canada and the United States, Ontario Ballet Theatre has reached a total audience in excess of 1,000,000 and boasts a 95% rate of return engagements.
